Lying on the floor, stretching out towards the knife, and extending her arm and fingers out as far as it would go, she tried her best to reach the knife, . . . but failed.

Breathing heavily, she turned and looked at the only other object in the room: the slop bucket.

Pushing herself up, she walked across to the bucket.
